5. Getting Help
You have a variety of options for help and support within Bistro. When you select Help by clicking on the help icon in the main menu toolbar of Bistro, you will be taken to the Help screen, which gives you three options: Helpdesk, FAQ & Documentation, and Contact (your web designer's name) Web Design.
A brief description of each of the three help option follows.
5.1 Helpdesk Support
When you click on Helpdesk, the Helpdesk screen will open. Here you can initiate a new help request, open an existing help request to review both the request and any responses associated with it, or delete a closed help request.
5.1.2 Open an Existing Help Request
To open an existing help request, first select the help request you wish to open by clicking in the checkbox to the left of it. Then click [Open Help Request] on the upper right of the Helpdesk screen above.
This will open the selected help request.
Here you can review the contents of this help request and perform various actions. By clicking on the appropriate blue button, you can mark the help request as resolved, add a comment, delete the help request, or return to the Helpdesk screen.
To exit this help request and return directly to the Help screen menu for access to other Help Options, click Return to Help Options at the bottom left corner of your screen.
5.1.3 Submit a New Help Request
To generate a new help request, click on the [New Help Request] button in the upper right portion of your Helpdesk screen, just below the menu bar. This will open a new help request.
To make the most effective use of the helpdesk
- Indicate the priority of your help request by selecting it from the drop down menu provided.
- Include a subject line that provides a quick indication of the problem
- Provide as much detail regarding the problem you are having in the body of the help request.
Once you have completed your help request, click [Submit Help Request] - or click [Cancel] if you have changed your mind. You will be returned to the Helpdesk screen.
To return directly to the Help screen menu for access to other Help options without submitting your help request, click Return to Help Options at the bottom left corner of your screen.
5.1.4 Delete Help Request (s)
You can delete any existing help requests from the main Helpdesk screen.
To delete an existing help request,
- Select the help request(s) you wish to delete by clicking in the checkbox to the left of it (them).
- Click the [Delete Request(s)] button on the upper right.
- You will be prompted to confirm that you wish to delete the selected help request
- Click OK to continue.
- You will then see a message confirming that the selected message has been deleted
- Click OK again to continue
- The selected help request(s) will be deleted and you will be returned to the Helpdesk screen.
To exit the Helpdesk screen and return to the Help screen menu for access to other Help Options, click Return to Help Options at the bottom left corner of your screen
5.2. FAQs & Documentation
In addition to the online help desk, this area of your site also gives you access to a series of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and their answers.
This online manual is also accessed directly from the Bistro help area. It is provided in an online format to ensure that you always have access to the most up to date version of the Bistro documentation without having to download or request a new version of the manual.
The Online Manual includes both end user documentation as well as web designer and developer documentation. Whether you are looking for information about editing your website pages, or developing a new module for use with Bistro, you will find it in your Bistro Online Manual.
5.3. Contact Your Web Designer
From the help area of Bistro you will typically be able to contact your web designer directly. To access the contact information or send an email message to your web designer, click on the Contact Web Designer link.
