3.9.3. Managing Your Menu


To access the Menu Manager, click the Site Content icon on the main menu bar. From the site content screen, select Menu Manager and the main Menu Manager screen will open.

(Note: please confirm you're your website designer that your website design supports sub menus before adding them. If your design does not support sub menus, any sub- menus added using the Menu Manager will not be visible on your site.)

When you open the Menu Manager, the default menu selected will be Main Menu. For your convenience, Bistro pre-loads a number of common menu items, but you are free to rename, add or delete menu items to meet your needs.

To move through the menu structure, use the Menu: drop down list where you can navigate by selecting existing menu and sub menu items. To select a menu, click on its name in the drop down list.

3.9.3.1 Adding a Menu Item

To add a menu item, first select (by clicking on it in the the drop down list) a menu heading (eg. Main Menu) to which you would like to add your new item. The menu you have selected will appear in the text box beside the word Menu: and any existing menu items will be shown in the text box below. If no menu items have been created yet, the box will be emtpy until you add the first item on the selected menu.

To add an item to the selected menu, click [New] (near the top right side of your menu manager screen, below the Bistro menu bar. This will open up the Menu Item Details box to the right of the menu list (see below).

 

Here you will choose (from the drop down list provided) the page that you want your new menu item to link to and name it accordingly.


3.9.3.2 Opening a Menu Item (to review or edit)

If you want to open an existing menu item to review or edit it, highlight the menu item you wish to open and click [Open].

Note: menu items can not be moved from one menu or submenu to another using the move function. To move an item from one menu (or submenu) to another, you will have to delete it from one and add it to the other.


3.9.3.4 Adding a Sub Menu

Once you have confirmed that your website design supports sub menus, you can add a sub- menu to any of your main menu items. To do so,

When you have finished with the Menu Manager, you can return to the Site Content screen by clicking the Return to Site Content link in the bottom left corner of your screen, or by clicking the Site Content icon in your menu bar.
